• Madrid offers more a Spanish kitchen then a regional one. There are some dishes which are called 'madrileño' in Spain, but these are mainly hotspots like the Cocido Madrileño with chick-peas and vegetables (potatoes, celery, cabbage, carrots and turnips).
• Some regional dishes are the very typical 'Sopa de Ajo' (garlic soup), the asparagus from 'Aranjuez' and many menus include lamb and veal.
• The second biggest fish market of the world is located in Madrid (first is Tokyo). That’s why the restaurants and also many shops offer any kind of fish.
• As in the rest of Spain, Madrid has also many bars which offers tapas. These are a variety of dishes which are served as appetizers. It is a tradition and you will find hundreds of tapas bars in the streets of Madrid.
